Recently replaced vss in my 91 accord lx. Not a tough fix, wouldn't pay more than $55.00 for the part though. At first I thought it would be plugged directly into the transmission. Nope. It is directly next to the end of one of the smaller water hoses, and if yours is anything like mine was..not very noticeable at first (covered with oil and dark grit). Turns out I had to wait to receive the part in the mail in order to locate it so don't feel stupid. Once you locate it, you should intuitively know the few tools you will need to replace it by looking at it. More specificly..to locate it, stand in front of the front right (passenger) tire and lean forward about a foot. Look for a spot where one of the smaller hoses meets at, I want to say the engine block. There are two small wirespoking out of the vss, I believe blue and yellow in color. You are probably going to have to figure out how to reset the computer to the transmission (like me)after the replacement, and I'm sorry I can't tell you how to do this. I have taken advice here and there and am still going to have a tough time believing the computer needs to be replaced. I'm not very mechanicly inclined, but as far as replacing the vss, it's not worth hiring someone to do this little chore for you. That's all I can tell you. Best of luck-

Can you change a automatic to a 5 speed Honda Accord 1990
I have fixed my 1990 Honda Accord speed sensor a couple years ago and it is located on top of transmission. You can easily to change it by using simple tools. If you don't know what it looks like, go to internet and search for Honda parts and shop for speed sensor. Then, you can go back to your car and see where it is. Good Luck!
