Remove the positive battery cable from your 1987 Chevrolet Blazer battery. Remove the starter cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
No
Get a manual on your car from the parts store or from AUTOBOOKSONLINE.COM. This is not a job for the backyard mechanic as you have to hold the engine while the trans is pulled.
yes you can, but you will also have to change flywheel on engine to enable you to intall a clutch
Change your transmission filter and have the trans flushed.
The starter should be between the engine and trans on the right side of the truck. Disconnect battery, remove wire from starter to battery. There should only be 3 bolts attaching the starter to the trans bellhousing.
Easiest to get to through passenger side wheel well. Disconnect battery cable (either one). support vehicle well, remove wheel. remove both wires from starter. use 13mm or 1/2" (same size) i think there is 3 bolts holding it to engine.
The Tranny will bolt up to the engine fine you just have to change all the components from manual to automatic (clutch, flexplate, flywheel, and all that jazz) Good Luck!
start by unbolting crossover exhaust pipes from manifold. take of cross member and skid plates. disassemble driveshafts to front axle. take main trans bolts out. drop the trans down change starter, reverse order. or take passenger wheel tire off try it that way but i do it the other way to check clutch pltes and check grease fittings and fill.
Starter solenoid is on the starter, trans solenoid is on the trans.
trans or oil? oil is in front left. i dont think the 98 blazer has a trans dipstick. Instead, there is a bolt on the side of the trans.
Starter solenoid is on the starter. Trans solenoids are on the valve body, in the trans.
Mounted to the starter.
