Go back there at look at the housing of the third brake light. If it has a hole and a clip on each side you stick something small and pointed into it then pull it out. Then you can take the housing off and replace the bulb. If there is no clip you have to go into the trunk and replace it from underneath.
There are the small clips, don't use anything to pull it out though. It works just fine using your finger nails to grab it and pull. There is one on each side of the cover in your back window. It is round with anouther round thing in the middle. Grab the middle round and pull. Pulling it straight out with your finger nails will NOT break it. If you use something to pull it out it will bust them and you won't be able to put the cover back on.
It is quite simple to change the brake light switch on your 1998 Chevy S 10 pickup truck. The brake light switch simply plugs in and out.
You will need to remove the 1998 Chevy Camaro brake light wiring harness. Remove the brake light retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new brake light.
I just had to change mine yesterday 4/12/08 you have to open your trunk, look right under where the 3rd brake light is to find wire running to it, twist to pop it out. Hope this helps. B.C.

I have the same problem - but my third brake light slightly flashes when the car is of (Explorer 1998). I have replaced the "stop light" switch with no improvement at all.

The 1998 Nissan brake light switch is located below the dashboard, on the drivers side of the engine compartment. The brake light switch simply plugs in and out.
