ok, if you have this problem im going to guess your plugs are bad too. they will get oil on them. you take off the valve plastic cover, then all the plug wires, mark them or remember were they go.. then all the top bolts that hold it on, remove cover take a straight screw driver or gasket scraper and get all the old gasket off, wipe clean. parts you should need(gasket sealer or maker) gasket. make a bead line around the top of the head, place new gasket in place with all bolt holes matching. put top back on check and see what torq puunds the bolts need and let set for 24 hrs in room temp. might wannt check all plug wires for oil as well. might wanna check the bolts after a week of driveing it and see if they need tighting. hope it helps ya i had to do it for the first time 2 years ago and still on the road.
i need a detailed diagram on how to replace a valve cover gasket on an 2002 kia sportage. no one makes a repair guide for this vehical
On any automobiles. Take the valve cover off and clean any gasket residue on it. Take out the old one and also clean any gasket residue on the cylinder head. Using proper gasket sealing and gasket place new one on and torque cover back on to specs. Good to always use new nuts and bolts and inspect any other area you need to look with the valve cover off. Should take no more than 1hr unless you have more then one cylinder head.
because your valve cover gasket has failed, time to replace it, if you don't engine will start running rough and will eventually short out coil.

A mechanic man will do very good job for your Kia
Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. Check lines and make sure that they are all connected properly and none of them are cracked.
first off, check the oil level in the engine changing plugs and valve cover gasket should not affect the oil pump.you might also check to see if oil pressure is showing on gauge in dash
i DONT KNOW WHERE BUT I AM TOLD IT IS LOCATED INSIDE THE VALVE COVER
I had to work this out at the weekend...and failed to use gloves (regrettably) cost $15 from Kia Remove Mass Air Flow pipe from Valve cover, then detach hose at rear of valve cover, and hose on left hand side. Remove Plastic Spark Plug cover, and remove coils (leave plugs). Remove all Bolts from inside plug cover (x8) and 9 from the outside (the last one is from behind the timing belt cover. The rear ones are tough, as there is little space to work. Then gently remove the valve cover, you may have to divert the spark cables and small hoses behind the Transmission fluid dip stick. Remove and refit the seal / gasket, and ensure there is a little oil on the top of the block when you replace the valve cover, just tighten bolts to hand tight fit, (you may need to put a piece of newspaper between the screwdriver/wrench handle and your hand to gain sufficient grip. Reverse the process and you should be good to go.
try a tune up, make sure valve cover gasket is not leaking into #4 spark plug tube, check spark plug wires and coil.
under the small plastic cover on the drivers side valve cover 3.5 eng.
