HI, basic hand tools will do the trick allong witha screwDriver or two, a paint scrapper or piece of metal with an edge to TOTALY remove the old gasket from the front of the motor, do not use a razor blade as it will mar the surface easy, then you will have leaks-silicone or no. I have done this within the last few years to my '86 d150 and it seems that it is like a 302 Ford, not too hard but you have to take almost all of the brackets off the front of the motor to get to it. Lay out your parts from left to right in order so you know how to put it back together, works for me at least. Get a gasket kit and pump, when time, use blue RTV silicone sealant(thin even coat) and wipe the extra off the parts after you have tightend the pump, in order-fartherest from the last bolt you tightned. Make sure and change the thermostat while you are at it-get a model that racers use or drill a small hole in the thermostat to always have a way for water to get through. a torque wrench would be nice, just buy a manual from autozone for $15-real like saver. Good luck
