How do you change the water pump on a 1998 cadillac northstar?

Drain the cooling system.
Remove the air filter housing.
Remove the water pump belt and the water pump tensioner and any associated brackets.
Unbolt and remove the water pump cover.
Use a Northstar water pump socket (nothing else will work), rotate the water pump slightly clockwise, then pull it out.
Replace the water pump seal. This usually is not included with the new water pump. Reverse the above steps to install the new water pump.
Let me know if this helps. It looks like a hard job, but if you take your time it's pretty easy and doesn't take long. Don't rush or look for shortcuts.
