Is this a 3.1L or 3.4L engine? If so it's the easiest to replace water pump ever made.
-Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
-Drain the radiator.
-Loosen the four bolts on the water pump pulley with a 8mm socket.
-Use a 3/8 drive ratchet to loosen the belt tensioner, then remove the belt.
-Remove the water pump pulley bolts and pulley.
-Remove the five bolts (8 mm head) and water pump.
-Clean off the old gasket material.
-Put a GM Cooling system supplemental sealer pellet in the opening.
-Reassemble in reverse order using new pump and gasket.
-Use a vacuum type fill tool to fill the system with Dex-Cool. Compressed air is required to operate the tool, but other fill methods can damage cylinder heads so get the tool.
You are finished. This took about 10 minutes.
