How do you change transmission filter 2004 Tahoe?

If its anything like changing it on an older model Tahoe it should be pretty easy. First you need to decipher which is the transmission pan. It should be about 16-17 bolt pan. You need to undo about half of these then let out alot of your fluid. Doing this will make the pan alot lighter. Then you undo the rest of the bolts slowly bringing down the pan. let all the fluid out of that pan and putting the filter back in the way it looked before should be a piece of cake. Make sure you clean out your pan and you don't have any metal shavings. Having these shavings could mean a big transmission problem. next you need to scrape off the old gasket off of the pan and make sure its fairly clean so you the new gasket and permatex will stick. then you put the filter back and and put ur pan back on but only hand tightening the bolts. you don't want the gasket to spread, doing so it will not line up right and youll have a leak. then your goin to fill up ur fluid after the permatex cures. give that about 4-6 hrs on the safe side.
