That's what I'd like to know. I have a 2006 Ford Fusion 2.3L with 67K miles.
Suddenly I get a heavy "grinding" noise when I make left turns or jounce/rebounds.
I thought the ball joints were failing on the driverside. Turns out to be the transaxle mounts. Isn't this wear premature?

Did it on a 2008 with four-cylinder engine (FNR5 transmission). Take off the belly pan, drain the transmission fluid, support the engine, remove the single large bolt for the motor mount on the passenger side, raise the engine slightly, unbolt the transmission pan. Shift solenoids are inside.
