You can buy a cake that is yellow or use yellow food coloring.

White cake is white because it's made with egg whites only; yellow cake is yellow because it's made with whole eggs, the egg yolks make it yellow. If you are making it yourself from a recipe for white cake but want it yellow, use whole eggs instead of egg whites, reducing the number of eggs by one. You could also make it yellow by using Orange Juice concentrate for flavoring, which will of course make it an orange flavored cake.

2 1/2 c. sugar

5 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

3/4 tsp. almond extract

3 c. flour

3/4 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp. salt

1 c. milk

1) In a mixer bowl, cream the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy.

2) Add eggs 1 at a time, beating after each one with mixer. Mix well.

3) Mix in vanilla and almond extracts.

4) In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder.

5) Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, start with the flour first.

6) Pour into prepared baking pans and bake at 350 degrees until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely and decorate.
