How do you change your dimmer switch on your 1991 Mercury Cougar?

Take the 2 screws out just above the guage cluster on the trim that goes around the outside of the dash. Put your steering wheel all the way tilted down. Take a small flat screwdriver and pry between the lower part of the trim were it connects to the dash and it will pop the clips out. Once you loosen those it should move away from the dash some. Take a small flat screwdriver and push the connecting clip from the headlight switch and it all should come out. Put the new dimmer switch in and reverse the process.

Why are you replacing the switch? If the fan works only on high speed, replace the fan resistor. There was a TSB for this.
