First, go get a filter and transmission pan gasket (usually in a kit) and about 1.5 gallons of Dexron/Mercron Transmission Fluid. Make sure you have a large drain pan and somewhere you can work under the truck easily. Remove the front skid plate and you will see two transmission cooler lines running to the cooler on the passenger side underneath the skid plate. Remove on of the clamps on the line and place the drain pan under it. it helps to secure the line in the pan as it is pressurized. Then turn on the truck and let the fluid drain itself out of the line. Replace the line and clamp when most of the fluid has drained itself. Then, support the transmission with a jack and remove the transmission mount and crossmember. you can get away without removing the crossmember if you have to, but it is easier without it as it is in the way of the transmission pan bolts. Next step is to remove the drain plug in the transmission pan with the drain pan under it to make sure it is empty. Then remove the bolts from the pan and the pan. Scrape off the old gasket and clean the magnet in the pan and the pan itself. Put the new gasket on the pan and push a few bolts into the holes to hold the gasket in place when you replace the pan. Then take the bolts out of the filter and take the old filter out, replacing it with the new one. Make sure the new O-ring is on the collar of the filter before putting it back in. Once it is in, snug up the bolts, 15-20ft/lbs is enough. Then put the transmission pan back on and put the transmission cross-member back in and tighten to 75ish ft/lbs. Refill the transmission with approximately 1 gallon of fluid, start the truck and recheck the fluid level and top it up to spec. Make sure the truck is running when you check your fluid level or it will not be accurate.
Remove the transmission plug on the bottom of the transmission. The transmission fluid will drain out of the unplugged whole.
