You can't it is a sealed transmission. If you have no leaks then all if fine.
There is no dipstick for the transmission. It has a check valve on the side of the pan.

There isn't one. GM, in its infinite wisdom, decided that automatic transmissions don't need to have their fluids checked. The manual tells you that the dealer will check it when you bring it in for scheduled maintenance.
the only solution that you can affect at home is to check fluid level, and change the fluid and filter this should be done about every 30,000 miles, all other issues need to be dealt with by a reputable transmission specialist.
The transmission fluid on a 96 Pontiac Grand Am SE is put into the filler tube on the left side of the engine. It runs directly into the top of the transmission and also contains a dipstick to check fluid levels.
