In order to check for a worn cam load you have to run a compression test a change in pressure will tell you if it's worn.ÊYou cannot fix a worn cam it must be replaced.
It means the lobe is worn off of the CAM SHAFT. Need to replace cam and lifters.
you may have the same problem my 350 tbi had. the cam lobe was worn excessively causing a valve not to function at all. and yes it can be one lobe on the cam worn and the other lobes on the shaft can be perfectly fine.
No you cannot. It will just eat the lobe off the cam further. You will have to replace the cam and lifters. be sure to change the oil and filter several times after job is finished. It would be wise to replace the timing chain and gears as a set.
MPI's usually have electric fuel pumps to put out the pressure needed. so no lobe.
Take off Air cleaner assembly and in Park press gas pedal down hard and listen for loud popping sounds. If it is popping remove valve covers.Watch and see if all the rocker arms move up and down evenly. If not chances are cam and lifters are bad. what kind of problems are you having to make you think it's a cam lobe? usally if a lobe is worn off it will back fire through the carb depending on how bad it is, if the cam is bad then it usally means you've spun a cam bearing in it because of no opil getting to that lobe it has worn off, but it also can be a bad lifter is bad but usally the tick alot before going out. call me if you want and tell me why you think it is, 636-575-0255, thanks harry
Low oil pressure. CHECK with oil pressure gauge. Worn valvetrain / Lifters are cam lobes worn. stoped up oil pump screen. Cam bearings worn. These are a few things you need to check.
These things could cause that--- Bad plug wire, spark plug, distributor cap, bent push rod, valves adjusted wrong/to tight, cam lobe worn off,bad lifter, vacuum leak. burned valve, low compression. Check these things out and then let US know what you come up with.
Check with the cam manufacturer of your choice for a recommendation.
A bad lifter, worn piston rings/cylinder walls, carbon build up, bent push rod, and a worn cam lobe. A burned valve can also cause low compression.
Sounds like the push rod is to short, may be worn or a bad cam lobe.
i no If a lobe has worn off it is possible that you could just replace the cam but more than likely there is more wrong. If the cam is broke, it would take other things along with it. Depending on the type of motor, this could mean a new head or the complete motor if it is not over head cam.
Check and see if the distributor cap is cracked. Could be as simple as a vacuum leak. Check the spark plugs to see if one looks different from the rest. If so, it could be a bad rocker or flat lobe on the cam. Pull the valve covers and have a look around
