Diagnosing the ignition control module is done with a diagnostic scope. These scopes can range in cost from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, so the most economic way is to take the car to an auto repair shop.

on your 2000 Blazer the control module is located under the kick panel on the passenger side. Simply remove the plastic panel, unbolt the module with a 10 MM socket and disconnect the wiring hareness. While your there, check the wiring hareness for corrosion as this is a big problem. apply Dielectric grease to the hareness and install new control module.
Check the ignition module in the distributor. Potentially it is failing when heated. Once the ignition module cools, it may fire for a while. Check for spark when this happens. If so it usually is the module or the coil .... either is usually less than 50 bucks. When the car dies look at the tachometer, if it stays at zero, you've got no ingnition signal. Some autoparts stores can check this part for you.

If you have coils it is underneath the coil pack.If you have a distributor...it is either in the distributor or mounted close to the distributor housing on the engine or firewall.

The powertrain control module (PCM) is located in the passengers side kick panel area of the S-10 with the 4.3L engine. If that S-10 has the 2.8L or the 2.5L engine it would have an electronic control module (ECM) also located in the passengers side kick panel area.
The igniter is at the rear under the boot.
This just happenned to me. I was getting a code PO300. It turned out to be the ignition control module. It cost 78.00 at autozone and only took 10 minutes to replace.
