Open the hood. As you are looking at the engine, just to the left of center on the front of the engine is the Power Steering pump. It's got a belt connected to it that drives it from the engine's crankshaft. There is a cap on top of the pump. You open that by turning 1/4 turn counter-clockwise. Cap has a dipstick attached to it and you just read the level of fluid on this dipstick. They sell power steering fluid most anywhere that sells engine oil. Don't overfill. --Ken
To check the brake fluid level on a 99 Subaru Forester, you need to open the hood and locate the brake fluid reservoir. This is located on the master cylinder. There will either be a dipstick in the reservoir, or a line embossed on the side that says 'full.' If needed, add DOT 3 brake fluid.
What is the transmission fluid capacity on a 2001 subaru forester?
I want to check the level of atf temp in my subaru forester 2010. On checking the transmission fluid level, after the car was driven about 10 km and was put in each gear and setting the select level in the "p", do i have to turn off the engine or idle the engine before i check the atf level?
Yes, it is definitely good to use transmission fluid in your Forester. I highly recommend it and use it in my 2000 with no problems.

I need Dexron III in my Subaru Forester, but I don't need any right now, thanks. Your owner's manual will tell you what to use in yours.
It depends on if you have a manual or an automatic transmission. aut is 3and a half quarts of subaru automatic transmission fluid, a manual is about a gallon of 80W-90 gear lube
pour the power steering fluid directing into where you pull the dipstick out to check the power steering fluid.
It is important to check and maintain the vehicles fluids. A person checks power steering fluid by looking for the yellow lid labeled Power Steering Fluid Only, this is where the fluid can be checked.
Assuming that your 2001 is the same as my 2000, the pump is atached at the bottom of the fluid reservoir. It does not need to be primed. --Ken
use a turkey baster to suck it out.
It doesn't have any electronic with a steering gear / no fluid
