Depends on what Renault it is, there are lots of models with different methods. Scenic has battery under drivers seat(gel battery)or under bonnet(lead acid battery). The clio is under the bonnet , under a plastic flap just under the windscreen.To remove the battery , there is a clamp down the side of the battery clamping it ti the battery tray, remove this, then disconnect the terminals then lift battery out. Always remove the EARTH lead FIRST, posative second. When refitting posative first, EARTH lead LAST. Hope this helps

Why not clamp negative clamp to battery?
Because there may be a spark when you connect a jumper cable negative clamp to the battery post which can cause an explosion. Batteries emit hydrogen gas which is very volitive. Always connect the negative clamp to the engine or another ground point on the vehicle.
