a good parts store will have electrical contact cleaner spray i think CRC makes it, it will not harm plastic. it works great. also try to get a small fine jewelers file to clean contact points they get pitted from arching
Either switch brands or clean them with eyedrops
That is doubtful. The contacts are probably burned/damaged.
dirty contacts on switch. You can replace the whole switch with expense or have someone who's technically inclined pull the switch apart and clean the contacts to bare metal.
take apart and clean copper contacts, no need to replace.
Switch on top steering column was flipped . clean car recently?
Have your "multi-function switch" checked. It is all one piece with the turn signal lever arm and connects inside the steering column. The copper contacts inside the switch get worn and the copper particles combine with the grease inside the switch to form an electrical "short" across multiple contacts. Remove the switch, gently pry open the casing, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reapply appropriate grease..Fixed mine this way and saved $95...My turnsignals were "clicking" ALL the time.
Are you talking about two separate switches? The rear defrost switch might have corroded contacts or a bad spring mechanism. The factory manual recommends you pull off a few covers and drop the steering column to get to the defrost switch, but I found that some careful prying at the top and bottom of the defrost switch where it meets the dash with a knife point or thin flat screwdriver will get it to pop out. If you are adventuresome, pop the switch open and clean the contacts (look out for a flying spring!) , otherwise get one from the dealership or friendly local junk yard.
Try a new switch or just clean the contacts on it
The problem is usually in the multi-function switch.(The switch on the column that has your turn signals and wipers, ect on one lever) (Functions of the multi-function switches vary with different models) Regardless, it is the switch that you move to turn on your signals. You may need to clean or replace the switch. Either way you will have to remove it from the column. If you are going to try and clean it, rather than replace it, remove switch from column then use electical contact cleaner and spray inside of switch. Operating the switch from left to right turn as you clean. i hope I explained it well enough for you to understand, I am better at doing than explaining. Good Luck!
could possibly be around $40,000 if there is zero rust
you need a new headlamp switch, power for the lamp motors comes from the switch, if you are very carefull you can take apart the switch(you will probably see carbon built up on the contacts), clean the contacts off and give them a slight bend, apply a small amount off lithium greese. you should be good to go.
1) Replace flasher unit OR 2) Clean turn signal contacts with WD40 Had same problem. No turn signals but hazards work. Online research suggested most probably flasher needs replaced or bad contacts in turn signal switch. Mine started working out of the blue - I think contacts were a little gunky. Someone with similar problems suggested blasting the inside of the turn signal switch with WD40 to clean any gunk and corrosion from the contacts.
