first off there are only 2 ways i know of......
#1 Remove the intake from the motor and soak over night in parts cleaner, use a wire brush that's flexible with a long handle. You may need to use some throttle body cleaner for extra heavy deposit carbons.
#2 Take off the EGR Valve, Get a wire coat hanger, bend it out straight (no hooks) and get a buttload of throttle body cleaner. Spray the cleaner heavily into the EGR Port, and start ramming that coat hanger down in there. It'll have to snake into other ports and so on so be patient. BTW You'll get alot of white smoke when it's all said and done, but it does an o.k. job of fixing the problem.
Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts from your 1996 Chevy Astro Van. Remove the manifold gasket and clean the surface. Reverse the process to install the new intake manifold gasket.
You will need to remove the exhaust manifold retaining bolts in your 1993 Chevy Astro. Remove the exhaust manifold. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket and clean the surface. Reverse the process to install the new exhaust manifold gasket.
Remove everything on top of the intake (hoses, fuel rails, linkages.) Unbolt the manifold and remove it. Clean the old gasket off and replace it. Reinstall all parts removed to get to the gasket.
if you look at the intake manifold directly in front of the tbi unit it will be cast into the intake manifold. may have to remove air cleaner assembly and clean off dirt. lol 1-6-5-4-3-2

The intake manifold is leaking coolant into the lifter gallery. There are 4 water jackets in the intake. one on every corner. Chevy's are none for this. It is a common problem. Need to replace INTAKE GASKET and change oil and filter. May need to change a few times until oil is clean and not milkey. Oil should be clear.

Need to know what the diagnoses or symptoms are.
if your intake is off the engine, and you can get in the intake ports with a small brass brush,Gumout carb spray is awesome, tryed all types of solvents, nothing close to Gumout........
Basically you remove the throttle body, fuel rail, and anything else that is plugging into it, then unbolt it. You need to get a shop manual however, because there is a specific bolt pattern you need to use to avoid damage.
