you close your eyes when your asleep because when your resting everything in your body relaxes and takes it easy, including the brain, the brain is connected to the eyes therefore the brain signals for your eyes to shut so the brain has one less thing to do because everything you do when you look at something sends 'pictures' to your brain and makes you see what it is and realize things but when your asleep your brain is on 'stand by' and it cant relax and answer 5700 things every second at the same time, or when you woke up in the morning you would have the biggest headache ever!!
