You have to have a faucet that has threads like you find on the outdoor faucet. Some have them and some don't. If you're trying to attach a hose meant for indoor faucets, you'll have to remove the aerator (the small nozzle on the end of the faucet) so you can screw the hose onto the faucet.

How do you hook up your portable washing machine to a faucet?

There is a fitting available that you put on the end of the faucet. Take the screen off the end of the spout and this fitting screws on. It is like a quick connect for an air hose if you are familiar with that.

A hose bibb may be known as a spigot or faucet in your area. In any case, it is the valve to which you connect a garden hose.

How do you connect a water purification system to the sink sprayer hose?

You cannot do this without a way of stopping the water. The sink sprayer is hooked up through your kitchen faucet for a reason. When the faucet is shut off, no water can come through the sprayer. If you hook up the sprayer to a water filter, the handle on the sprayer cannot handle the pressure of the water system and will continually run when the handle packs it in, more than likely when you are not home!

Why would just the kitchen faucet sputter when first turned on and no others?

If this faucet has a spray hose, turn on the faucet and open the spray hose. This will adjust the diverter in the kitchen faucet to the spray and pressureize the hose. This will allow the faucet to equilize and the sputter will stop if the spray diverter is working. It could be that the diverter part in the faucet is defective.

Can you disconnect the sprayer and still use the faucet?

If the sprayer hose screws onto the faucet, you can get a cap for that fitting. If it pushes into the faucet, I do not believe there is any plug available for that type. You have to have something on the hose fitting or water will come out when you turn the faucet on.

Where did the name Hose Bib origenate from?

The term "hose bib" likely originated from the combination of "hose," which refers to a flexible tube used for conveying water, and "bib," which typically refers to a piece of clothing worn to protect the front of the body. Together, "hose bib" describes the outdoor water faucet with a threaded spout used to connect a garden hose for watering purposes.

Yes, it is, as all the water that enters it, quickly flows out.

How does water come out from a tap?

The average kitchen faucet in a house will supply 2.5 -3 gallons per minute at 50 PSI. That is an average hose working pressure in north America. A large bath faucet will supply 3 + gpm and a single lever bathroom sink faucet will be about 2 gpm.

Can you add a sink sprayer to any kitchen faucet?

No, they have to have a place to attach it. The fitting is in the middle of the faucet underneath directly under the spout. You can also add on a hose sprayer to end of the faucet but you need a special fitting to do this. The fitting needs to be adapted with a quick release. A replacement sprayer with hose is then attached to this fitting along with the quick release. You then attached the whole unit to the end of the faucet. Neat part is that if you move you can take it with you.
