There are two posts on the starter solenoid when the starter is in position the top one is for the positive battery cable. The bottom one should have a very short cable that enters the starter casing. I just replaced the starter in my 98 Mazda Protege yesterday.
Starter solenoid.
Follow the positive battery cable down to the engine. It will connect to the starter.
red to positive, black to negative
Remove - battery cable Remove + battery cable from battery and starter solenoid Route new cable following original routing Connect to starter solenoid Connect to + battery terminal Connect - battery cable
Secure the starter by tightening the starter retaining bolts. Connect the cables on the front of the starter. Connect your positive cable to the battery.
You don't, you connect to the battery from the battery of another car. Use the positive cable to connect the two positive electrodes and the negative to connect the two negative electrodes.
The plus is Positive + and it connects to the Red cable which connects to the starter.
Positive to positive and negative to negative. The negative will be connect to the engine or chassis. The positive will be connected to the starter.
to find starter...start at positive post on battery, follow big cable to end of cable........at which pointwill connect to starter
Remove the lighter gauge wires from the solenoid, and connect full battery power (cable) directly to to the positive post on the starter motor.
I can't tell you precisely on your model, but if you follow the positive (red) battery cable down from the battery, it should connect to one end of the starter. Hope that helps a little.
Follow the positive battery cable from the battery, it will lead you right to the starter.
