First of all, I assume you mean a gif file rather than a gi file. Following that assumption, gif files are picture files, while avi, mpeg (and wmv) files are video files.
You can turn a gif file into a video file by using windows moviemaker, which is included free in every version of windows for years. (look under accessories to find it on your computer)
If you are looking for tutorials on picture or video files, you might go to YouTube and type in your request with the word tutorial after it. Youtube has an incredible number of tutorials on most any type of question you can think of.
