The Question is clear. So please do not tell that publishing of movie file is needed to see the movie. what if changing of subtitle font is required? just tell how to Open .MSWMM from Vista in XP
The Asker does know that he/she needs to publish the movie after finalizing the editing but the problem is as follows.
The Scenario:Someone (foolish-because relies on Microsoft®) had a machine of his own which had a perfectly legal Microsoft® Windows® XP™ operating system. He was working an a movie project. The project and all of its files resided on a USB Disk. He made some changes using a machine of his brother in another city which had Microsoft® Windows® Vista™ . The person's boss now asks for some further changes. but he is back home but the same software (movie maker) which created the project first handed now gives a message that its is not compatible project file.
Solution:
1) Pay Microsoft® more money and buy Windows® Vista™ (but keep in mind that it too will become obsolete and then you may have to buy Windows7 or 99 whatever)
2) Rework the whole project using Microsoft® Windows® XP™ movie maker. Nighters you spent working on the project are spoiled
3) Reach a machine with Microsoft® Windows® Vista™ open the files and save them in compatibility mode with Microsoft® Windows® XP® after all its your fault, you use Microsoft® Windows® operating system :-D.
4) Pray to GOD that Bill Gates dies painfully in a plane crash and can't even be recognized because he burns to death.
Note: Do not download the Microsoft® Windows® Vista™ moviemaker because it won't install on Microsoft® Windows® XP™
The FUN: Save The funniest thing is that both movie makers offer exactly the same capabilities and even save the file with same extension. but are not compatible.
Now tell what to do.
There is no such thing as a "Windows XP Word file." You open the files in Vista the exact same way you do in Windows XP - with Microsoft Word.
Program Files (for win xp x86 and vista x86) Program Files(x86) (for win xp x64 and vista x64 for 32 bits applications) Program Files(x64) (for win xp x64 and vista x64 for 64 bits applications)
Yes as long as you are running Microsoft Office on Vista.

ntoskrnl.exe
What are you referring to by "exchanging files?" Documents can be transferred between the two systems just fine.
MSWMM (Microsoft Windows Movie Maker) files cannot be edited/viewed, emailed, uploaded or burned without first Publishing/Finishing the video, which converts audio/video properties into a Standard viewing format (.wmv).Having said that, you can't make a MSWMM project file compatible for use on Windows Movie Maker regardless of what version you are using. The reason being - the original source files (used to create the project) have to be readily accessible (available) while still in project format.Once the video has been Published/Finished and is converted into a Standard viewing format (such as .wmv), the original source files are no longer required. But, even then, codecs used to display the .wmv file on Vista systems may not be present on Xp machines. Therefore, the media player may not be able to show the video either.
Your memory: Nothing, depending on the capacity of your computer's RAM, Vista may affect it, then again, many operating systems do, however, Vista has been criticized for it's high usage of memory.Your Files: Depending on the way you install the operating system, if you upgrade from XP to Vista (Vista only supports XP=>Vista upgrades), your files will be perfectly fine, if you allow the installation to erase the contents of the hard drive and partition you install it to, your files will be lost.If you'd like to see if your computer can handle vista, see related links.
Simple. You install whatever program you use to open them.
