However, to develop an enlightened and intelligent position read all available Islamic material such as the Quran and treatises written by Islamic scholars until you understand the theological basis of Islam. Then read the history of the Middle East and its cultural attributes until you understand that. It might help to cultivate few Muslims as friends, or take a few unbiased world religion courses, to help you understand the difficult point's. All of this should be done with an innate intention to understand, not denounce.
You are now in a position to know a bit about Islam in its context. Your ambition to denounce it may start to fade at this point.
However if you're still bound to denounce, pick a Muslim to demonstrate you deep understanding to. Perhaps one of the folks who helped you understand.
A world of caution, an intelligent person steeped in their own culture and faith will generally know his facts much better than your "crash course" awareness. He will also feel he is right and be willing to convert you by his good example as he disassembles your arguments.
