An ornamental small tree is a description of the Royal Poinciana [Delonix regia]. The tree has bright green leaves. It blossoms to a vivid range of colors from orange to red, vermillion or yellow. Because of its flowers, it also is called the Flamboyant or Flame tree. Other common names for it include Flame of the forest and Peacock flower.
It's native to Madagascar. On the island, it's found in the dry deciduous forests. It shows a spreading habit with its above ground shoots and below ground with its roots. Below ground, it's used to spreading out in search of available soil moisture. Above ground, it's used to casting a shadow on the ground below its dense canopy. Among other things, the shade from the lush foliage preserves soil moisture levels and stops evaporation of vital moisture.
It's a member of the Fabaceae family. So it may be one of the members that is nitrogen fixing. That means that it's helpful to nitrogen levels in the soil.
It's an introduced plant into the United States of America. But its occurrence is limited. Thus far, it's grown in southern Arizona, California, Florida and Texas in terms of the continental U.S. But it also is grown in Hawaii and in Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The tree's beauty, environmental friendliness, and shade potential are behind its being chosen as the tree of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. They also are among the reasons why it's the national flower of St Kitts and Nevis.
A Royal Poinciana cannot be grown from a cutting. It has to be grown from seeds. The Royal Poinciana is suitable for the southern states of the United States.

It is one of two things. Either it is getting to much water. Or it is Iron deficient. The Royal Poinciana should be kept damp but not soaking wet, so you should probably water it every 3 to 4 days.
