A normal, purebred Australian Shepherd will generally fall within the sizes listed on the Aussie breed standard. A male is generally 20-23 inches high at the shoulder, and a female is 18-21 inches high. Weight can vary from around 45-55 lbs for females and 50-65 lbs for males.
there big
I got my female Australian Shepherd when she was 3 months old and she weighed 11 lbs. then. She will be 6 months on August 7 and weighs 24 lbs. now. My vet said that she was a good weight. She is solid muscle and very active. Could it be that yours is a miniature Aussie?
a bit smaller than a human baby
German Shepherd
You cant tell by the weight you can tell by looking at your puppy's ear and paws if the paws are big than you will have a big dog but if both the ears and paws are big tahn your going to have a very big dog, this doesnt work when the puppy is first born they have to be a few months old.
To determine how big your puppy will be, look at the parents of the puppy and the breed of the dog. If the parents were two different breeds and sizes, the pup will look like a mix of both parents and between the height of both the parents.
The average height for a male Aussie is 20 to 23 inches, and 18 to 21 inches for a female Aussie Dog.
It depends if your dog is skittish and scared of the water or if your dog loves water and loves swimming! I Have A Australian Shepherd Named Lucy And She Is Not A Big Fan Of The Water but she will sometimes jump in my sprinkler!
it matters will the puppy be big or small
Your either feeding him in amounts too big or too much a day. Reduce the portion amounts, it could also be something he has eaten.
Nope. Some breeds, like the GSD, have to grow into their paws... But you can never rely on the size then.
