The internal seals are shot. If it's a quality built jack, made in USA, repair kits are available. If it's made in China, throw it away and buy another POS made in China. Sorry, that's how I feel about that.

What do you need to make a hydraulic arm and how do you make one?

First off, working with hydraulics can be extremely dangerous. With pressures up to 2500 PSI or more, if something is connected incorrectly serious injury or death could occur. Hydraulic systems should only be serviced and/or created by persons with the correct training and experience. Before you can start any building, you will have to decide exactly what you want your hydraulic arm to do. How many limbs will it have? How much weight will it move? A background in basic statics is desirable as you will need to calculate the optimum point on the arm to connect the hydraulic cylinders to to obtain the maximum amount of force from the lever. The basic components that make up a hydraulic system are as follows: -Hydraulic pump (powered by a rotating engine or motor of come kind) -Hydraulic cylinders (this is where your power and motion actually come from) -Hydraulic valves (connected to levers or solenoids to control the flow of hydraulic fluid) -Hydraulic fluid (automatic transmission fluid is very similar and would also work) -Hydraulic fluid reservoir tank (to store fluid that is not currently being used in expanded cylinders) -Hydraulic hoses and fittings to connect everything together And of course the steel or other material for the limbs of the arm itself. Other objects like a pressure gauge or safety valve would be good ideas as well. When selecting these components you need to make sure that -your motor or engine has enough power to run your hydraulic pump -your hydraulic pump has enough power to run your cylinders -your cylinders can produce enough force to accomplish what you need them to accomplish -and that your hoses and valves can handle the amount of pressure your system will be under

How will natural gas be harnessed?

Drilling companies drill vertically down to the desired distance, and drill horizontally into the shale. They then use hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to loosen up the rock enough to get the gas out.

When is an engine so cold it cannot start?

Bad thermostat? Doesn't close enough to allow engine to warm up properly

How do you size a hydraulic tank to a hydraulic system?

You must take the following into consideration: -Delta volume due to pressurization, how much the fluid will compress under pressure (usually a very small amount) -Delta volume to charge any accumulators in the system (can be quite large) -Volume fluctuations due to temperature changes, fluid will contract when cold and expand when hot. (If tank isn't big enough, it might overflow when hot) -Leakage allowance, add up the acceptable leak rates for the overall system, and multiply by the amount of time between desired hydraulic servicing interval (how often you think it should be refilled) - this is probably the biggest factor in sizing a hydraulic tank or reservoir.

What causes a petrol engine to run on after it is switched off and also spit back through the carburetor?

not enough octane in your petrol. To stop the run on, turn your engine off while it is in Drive. Then switch to Park

Your hydraulic jak does not rise when you pump?

Possibly it does not have enough hydraulic fluid, or perhaps they hydraulics are not sealed so they won't pressurize.

Why is your rover ticking when its cold?

hydraulic tappet's does it have enough engine oil if yes flush engine oil and add new

Why do you have to crank vehicle many times in order to start?

It needs to get fuel into the cylinders, and it needs to pressurize it enough. The cranking puts the fuel into the cylinder, which equals the necessary pressure, which means the engine turns fast enough to keep itself running

How do you pressurize an aircraft?

There's an engine-driven compressor. On a turbine engine they pull bleed air off one of the turbine sections; on a piston engine plane it's an accessory to the engine. (Having said that, very few piston planes have pressurized cabins--they don't go high enough to need them.)

How much gas is needed to start car?

A car can start with very little fuel at the engine. However, there needs to be enough fuel in the tank to allow the pump to pressurize the lines and keep fuel to the injectors.

Why does a fire engine need to supply water to a fire sprinkler system?

A "fire department connection" (FDC) is often required on a sprinkler or standpipe system in case the ordinary supply of water fails to provide enough pressure for any reason. That way, a fire engine's pump can be used to pressurize the system with water from other sources.

Is 5 gallons enough fuel after draining tank on a 93 safari van?

5 gallons of gas should be enough to allow the fuel pump to pressurize the entire fuel system and take you at least 50 miles

Do they make luggage that will pressurize with the plane so my lotion won't explode?

They don't make pressurized suit cases but if you tighten your lotion top enough there should be no problem.

How do you know when you have enough hydraulic fluid?

1 - the height of the oil tank. 2 - Tank Gauge. 3 - If the oil tank is low pressure hydraulic system is malfunctioning and is not transmitted.

What size hydraulic motor is needed to be equal to a 16 hp gas engine?

there is no such thing as a hydraulic motor........there is, however, a hydraulic pump. there is such thing as a hydraulic motor. the hydraulic pump will pump oil to the motor and a pressure differential across the motor causes the fluid power to be converted to mechanical power. the power output of the motor is determined by the motor's pressure, flow, displacement, and torque. ________________________________________________________________ I believe the above post is wrong in part and right in part. Choosing a hydraulic motor to replace you 16hp gas engine requires more information than just the horsepower. It would be helpful to know many other factors, such as required torque needed in the application and the rpm. When these play a part in overall horsepower, knowing these pieces of information will help find a motor. When I've purchased motors in the past, I've used this website. They are very thorough and well-priced. www.surpluscenter.com What I took away from the response above, is the person was trying to tell you how to replace a whole hydraulic system. However, its needed in your case, so long as you have a new power source for the hydraulic motor. (IE: a gas engine to power a hydraulic pump, then lines from the hydraulic pump to the hydraulic motor (insert a valve if you wish to control motor speed and/or direction), and then the hydraulic motor. Its important to have a hydraulic tank with enough capacity to hold all the fluid which will be in motion. The more devices in the system, the bigger the tank. Hope this helps!!

I just installed a 5.7 gmc engine do i have to bleed the fuel?

No, if you have injection the pump will pressurize the system on it's own. If you have a carb, you may want to prime the system for quick starting. Priming is done by pouring fuel into the top of the carb into the bowl vent, which will allow you to fill the bowl of the carb, so that the engine can start and run long enough for the fuel pump to get fuel from the tank and up to the carb.
