Remove the fuel cap and have someone listen in to the fuel tank while you turn the key to the on position. You should hear the fuel pump run for aprox 2 seconds. If you don't hear the pump run it is probably bad. You can try to replace the fuel pump relay under the hood but that is seldom the problem. If you hear the pump run you will want to do a fuel pressure test. This would require a fuel presure gauge and attachment. The pressure should be 60 to 66 psi.

I'm not sure about all Jimmy's, but my fathers 1994 was in the fuel tank. We had to drop the fuel tank, and the fuel pump is inside on the float bar... Really a pain

GM doesn't use inertia switches.
turn ignition key on without cranking motor. listen carefully for a faint "winding sound".....repeat this step 2-3 times......no sound .... no pump,,,or power too pump.
