The air filter is located inside the air cleaner housing which is mounted in the left front corner of the engine compartment. Use a pair of pliers to remove the plastic pin(s) retaining the air intake duct to the radiator shroud. Grab the air cleaner housing and pull it straight up for access.
In reality it pumps clean air into the exhaust to dilute it so that it would pass emissions tests.
