If it's the Hella system: Find the (black) fuse box under the bonnet in front of the battery. There's a separatly mounted flat fuse (apart from all the others). Remove the fuse and you're good to go. I think it's 30A.

There has been a great deal of talk about the air bag problem but experts are saying do not disarm the airbags because you are more likely to have problems without them.
Because if the KIA sportage has power locks it has or can get a key less entry system
ABS
This is part of the security sytem of the kia. Its connnected to the alarm system. If you wish to prevent this you can disconnect the automatic locks or just pull the fuse from the alarm box. Hence you will also disable the alarm. When the car is started it senses the electrical difference and assumes that you are in the car. Then the alarm box locks the doors.
