This is part of the security sytem of the Kia. Its connnected to the alarm system. If you wish to prevent this you can disconnect the automatic locks or just pull the fuse from the alarm box. Hence you will also disable the alarm. When the car is started it senses the electrical difference and assumes that you are in the car. Then the alarm box locks the doors.

I have a 2000 model kia sportage. Recently the automatic door locks, rear window wiper, and all of the electric windows just stopped working? Also at the same time the engine light came on, I had it check by an advanced auto computer check and they said it said heat sensor.
