700R4
automatic transmission
The transmission in the 1991 Chevy Caprice is a 4 speed automatic with overdrive. This transmission is found in both the base and classic trims.
It will fit but you will have to get a shorter driveshaft. The truck transmissions are longer then a passenger car transmission.

The car has a 700R4 transmission. 4 speed automatic
A bad 700r4? Getting a transmission out is not for amatuers. It probably wieghs between 150 and 200 pounds. Otherwise it's like removing any other transmission. Disconnect the driveshaft, mounts, crossmember, and torque converter plus lines such as transmission cooling. Hope this helps.
YES it will bolt right up. BUT you will probley have to modify the driveshaft length. Front yoke for sure.
The easiest way is to put the rear of the car on jack stands or ramps. Unbolt the driveshaft from the rear end and pull it out of the transmission. Remove the small nuts holding the u-joints on the driveshaft, put in new ones, and reinstall the drive shaft.
Yes
The Turbo-Hydramatic 350 (TH350) was standard and I think the only one available. 3 Speed automatic.
