Spark plugs, spark wires, oil change and all other fluids, clean air box, replace all filters..that is basic maintenance anyways but dealerships charge you a lot for that fancy phrase "Tune Up". Never ask for a tune up, ask for specifics like new spark plugs, oil change, etc..this can be all on one work order obviously.
If you know your stuff, have basic knowledge of machines and still have someone do the work, always go over it yourself..Like new tires, I like my pressures to be exact not close enough when they put new tires on, and I always check to see if all caps and fluids are to spec before and after they go in putting something that is or is not right..
Many times has a mechanic left something loose, or attempted to put in the wrong part or fluid..some like to get re-manufactured crap and sell it as new and it might seem like a good deal but you get what you pay for..trust me there is a difference. I trust nobody. I hover over the shoulder of the mechanic.
Another example in alignments, mechanics just get it into the green but there is still room for perfection
Example on tune ups..Many mechanics just put in the air filter, I like to completely take the air box apart, clean it, rub oil on the inside and then put the filter in.
