First you would try to get the icon up. the icon doesnt exactly say sync, it's a picture. If that doesn't work then just put a CD in and it will do it 4 u! If none of that works, then delete iTunes and reinstall it into your computer.
You have to sync it because when you sync it go from your computer to your iPod but if you have an iPod touch you can download songs from your iPod's iTunes store.
You plug your iPod into your Mac using the sync cable and sync songs to your iPod through iTunes.
you can burn the songs you want to sync onto a CD and then download them to your iPod from the harddrive
if you plug your iPod into your computer it will sync your music to your iPod. Or you can buy your songs with the iTunes app on your iPod touch.
open itunes and sync
you plug the iPod into the computer/laptop and then click file > Sync iPod
Try unticking all the songs on Itunes. And add tick ONLY the songs you want to sync into your ipod. Itunes will only Sync the ticked songs. The rest of the songs on your ipod wont be erased.
load the CD into your computer rip the songs into your computer then sync those songs into your iPod
ha ha ha no silly it syncs your songs to your computer so you have them there and on your iPod
download songs from a website then go to itunes and click file add folder or file.then find the songs you want then click ok then sync it.
Click the button on the left that says "Yourname's iPod". Then click on the music tab which is near the top of that bit, if your songs are not syncing and you want them to press the tick box that says Sync Music. Then next time you press sync they should appear on your iPod. :)
