You simply push or pull the wire off the Master Cylinder and remove the cap and gasket, nothing could be easier.

The brake fluid reservoir does not have a dipstick.
The brake fluid reservoir is located under the hood, on the firewall, drivers side.
Sounds to me like you have a brake fluid leak somewhere in the system. Check the level of brake fluid in the reservoir. If the reservoir is full you may have a bad master cylinder with a "blow-by" condition.
I have a brake fluid leak on a Chevy truck silveraldo

The abs uses the brake fluid from the regular brake master cylinder.

The 1981 Chevy Cheyenne brake fluid tank can be found attached to the firewall in the engine compartment. The brake fluid tank will be on the drivers side of the firewall.
When you hold pressure on the brake pedal at a stop light and the pedal slowly drops to the floor and the brake fluid reservoir still remains full, the master is bad.
First be sure the parking brake is fully released, then if the light is still on and the reservoir is now full, you have air in the system and probably should have the brakes inspected because you shouldn't have had an empty reservoir in the first place.
