The brake fluid reservoir does not have a dipstick.
Some early model Sunfires have a dipstick. In my '96, the dipstick is located near the firewall, down and inboard from the brake fluid reservoir.
200 Chevy Malibu has a sealed system, so it does not have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid. If there are issues, one has to check the fluid while the car is running.

In the master break cylinder
The automatic dipstick is located in a tube close to the brake/clutch mastet cylinder. The manual has no dipstick. You have to take the speed sensor and speedometer gear out of the top of the engine. Fluid level should be to the bottom of the gear.
If it is an automatic the dipstick is right next to the brake fluid master cylinder reservoir. If it is a stick shift there is not dipstick.
To check the brake fluid level on a 99 Subaru Forester, you need to open the hood and locate the brake fluid reservoir. This is located on the master cylinder. There will either be a dipstick in the reservoir, or a line embossed on the side that says 'full.' If needed, add DOT 3 brake fluid.
