How to buy or rent content from Xbox LIVE

Overview

You can download new games, add-ons for your favorite games, avatar accessories, music, and more from Xbox LIVE for your Xbox 360 console or trusted PC.

Note Purchases from Xbox LIVE are made using Microsoft Points. You can add Microsoft Points to your Xbox LIVE account by using a prepaid code or a credit card associated with your account.

On your console

1. Sign in to Xbox LIVE with the account that you want to use to make a purchase.
2. Go to games or tv & movies.
3. Select Browse Games or Browse TV & Movies.
4. Browse to find what you want to buy or rent.
5. Select the item, and then select Confirm Download. If you don't have enough points for the purchase, select Add Points.

On your computer

1. Go to the Xbox Games Store.
2. In the upper-right corner, click Sign in. Enter the email address and password that you used when you signed up for Xbox LIVE (this is your Microsoft account).
3. Browse under Games or Avatarto find something you want to download. Click to select the item.
4. Your selection and the number of points required are displayed. Do one of the following:
   • Under Games, if an item is available for download, click Buy Game or Download to Xbox 360.

     Note Some games are only available on disc.

   • Under Avatar, click Purchase.

   If you don't have enough Microsoft Points, click Buy Points.

   For some items, additional purchase options, such as a credit card, might be available.

5. Follow the steps to complete and confirm your purchase.
6. To confirm that the item you purchased is in your queue, select My Account. Then, select Xbox 360 Download Queue under Device Management.
7. Turn on your console and connect to Xbox LIVE. The items that you purchased will begin downloading.
