Go to the National Archives web site and read the instructions on the requirements to obtain military records: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/ They are pretty efficient and can send copies in a few weeks.
How can I find out if my brother was awarded a Silver Star while serving in Viet Nam? There is no definitive list of silver star recipients. There are lists available if you do an internet search, but they are not complete or verified. If you want to find information on medals or awards given to a particular service member, you can request those records through the National Archives if you are the service member or a next of kin. Here is a link. http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/get-service-records.html
Yes there is. I think you can find a full list on wikipedia ( maybe )

I work with a fellow police officer who cliams to have won both the bronz star and silver star during Vietnam yet was never wonded. He further claims to served 3 tours of duty in country with the U.S. Army. I find it hard to belive an individual won both awards. Does anyone know of this happening?
Check the National Archives. You'll find a link below.

You can't, no one wins anything in war! You are AWARDED a medal or decoration. All you civilians out there; let that sink in. That is a tremendous difference and that difference means a lot to us. Basically, it has to do with the memory of those "who are forever young", for in this "game" not everyone is alive when it's over. Other than that, Google it.
There is no such list.
One can find information on the Silver Star Mountain Trail by checking with the tourism department of the Chamber of Commerce for the state of Washington which is where this trail is located.
No comprehensive list exists for recipients of a Silver Star Medal during the Battle of the Bulge.

My uncle Robert Renfrew has alot we have them in a case and there still bran spancking new.AnswerThere is no central list or database of the names of soldiers who earned the Silver Star Medal. However, there are records available. If you know a soldier's name and his unit (i.e. regiment, battery, etc.), then you can contact National Archives (NARA) and order the file for the soldier. The Silver Star Medal were probably issued from a higher HeadQuarters such as the Division or the Army so it may require searching their the records for that unit.
