I have some charts showing the meaning of the number and letter sequence in old VW vin numbers. All depends on how old the owner is as to whether i can help with decoding for you. If you want to let me have the vin I'll see if i can help.Dave.
On Old Cars.....
Depending on how old a car is, the information you find from a VIN check may or may not be updated. If a car is less than five years old, it is typically kept in check with the dealership it was purchased from, which would ensure that its VIN check is reliable.
You can't.
In these old models, you need to look on a metal plate riveted to the body behind the spare tire or on a metal stamped into the frame under the rear seat. Remove the rear seat and find a metal stamped on top of the tunnel in the middle of the car.
Copy the VIN number off of the dash, door jamb, or registration. Go to here: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/decode_vin.php
The Original design for the volkswagen was created in 1923 which makes it 77 years old. The first Volkswagen on display at a German Car Convention was beginning of 1933, 67 years old.
find a bike VIN I.D. chart, the tenth digit in your vin will be key to finding the year make try oem-cycle.com (worked for my dirtbike)
Normally it is the 10th character on the bikes vin# so if its a 2 it would be a 2002
By searching with the vin number
Vin Coutie is 129 years old (birthdate: October 28, 1881).
Vin Mazzaro is 24 years old (birthdate: September 27, 1986).
Apparently not. How old is this question and not a single reply.
