If your heater core hose leaks, you would know simply by looking at it, approx. 3/4in dia hosing is most common. usually running from water pump outlet, to heater core, back to water pump inlet. when a hose breaks/bursts/cracks or any of these similar type scenarios the pressure from the line's (at normal operating temp) would cause it to swell and welt, easier said it would be easier to find a heater core hose leak while the car was running at around 190 degrees, aka normal operating temperature. also check your radiator, coolant reservoir, upper and lower radiator hoses, and heater core itself. any of those can cause leaks, NEVER USE RADIATOR STOP LEAK !! it does more harm than good in the long run and only prolongs the inevitable,
A heater hose or heater core is in need of repair. stonemkr reverse painting on glass
Heater box drain It is just below the heater hose conections, If the heater core leaks it drains the coolant outside to keep the carpet dry.
The return hose for the heater core generally leads back the the water pump. The inlet for the heater core comes from the engine.
That is the drain from the heater core housing. It will only leak coolant from there if the heater core starts leaking. This is to help prevent coolant from ruining your carpet/interior. You have a bad heater core. Time to replace it. Good luck!
It is a drain tube for the pan housing the heater core. If the heater core leaks it will go out that pipe instead of inside your car.
Heater Core or Hose has been compromised? Remove Cover for heater under dashboard if Coolant leaks out Heater core / hose has corroded through Replace Core or Hose. You may need to start car to operating temperature in order to locate leak Be especially careful under dash Once Coolant lines are pressurized ! you may see stream of coolant shooting out of hose or Core ! Eye Protection should be worn !
If your heater core is leaking it will leak into your passenger compartment or the plastic container that normally houses them. Your windshield will get sticky steam on it if you turn on your defroster and the interior will smell like antifreeze ( sweet smelling ). Your heater may not be getting water because the heater hose that supplies it with coolant from your engine is leaking. This hose will go from your motor to your firewall as will the return hose. Another reason your heater may not blow hot air is a thermostat that is stuck in the open position, never allowing your motor ( or the coolant ) to properly warm up. In this case you will find no leaks.
No. The top hose goes to the engine. The bottom hose feeds from the engine to the heater core back to the radiator.
There are two heater core hose that goes to the firewall the inlet and outlet. through that hose, you will also have the rear heater core hose attached to a T joint in both the inlet and outlet hose. You splice the hose of the front heater core inlet and connect that to the rear heater core inlet hose. Same goes to the Outlet hose with the T joint using a conncetor which you can buy at your auto parts store, 3/4 inch size. Basically you are bypassing the front heater core that is connected to the firewall. You wont have any defroster and heater for the front, but the rear vents and control will have heat.
The heater core or a hose to the heater core has a leak. Hopefully it's a hose under the hood because it's a very involved process to get the heater core out.
take the 2 hoses off to the heater core and get a hose and flush out the core through both hose fittings on the firewall.
On my 1995 Ford Explorer with 4.0 L OHV engine , where the heater hoses are connected right at the firewall , the hose nearest the driver's side is the supply hose to the heater core , and the hose nearest the pasenger side is the outlet from the heater core. (Helpfull)
