verify that you have spark and fuel

connect a spark tester to the spark plug boot on the bad cylinder crank the car and see if there is a spark

connect a fuel pressure gauge at the fuel filter service port the top bolt on the banjo bolt connecting to the fuel rail and injector pulse tester to the injector on the bad cylinder MAKE SURE YOU RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE FIRST BY REMOVING THE FUEL CAP

next after everything is connected put the cap back on crank the engine for a few seconds to build pressure activate the injector pulse tester and watch your fuel pressure if it drops you have fuel before you disconnect everything once again relieve the fuel pressure

if all that is ok do a compression check disable the fuel pump by disconnecting the electrical connection @ the fuel pump under the rear seat

remove the spark plug and connect a compression gauge crank the engine for about 7 seconds and see what your compression is

put a little bit of atf into the cylinder and reconnect the compression gauge and crank again for about 7 seconds if your compression went up quiet a bit your piston rings are bad if your compression did'nt really change then it's your valve's try doing a valve adjustment
