first of all, is it rusted out. because mine rusted out and i had to have it welded back togather so it latches... so yes you will need to weld if broken... but if it;s the locking mecanism then i dont know...
Cannot open truck with key, which has battery in rear of car!
because there is a problem with your anti-lock brakes
Even if the trunk release is broken, the external key lock should be able to open the trunk.
WHAT LOCK ? ENGINE, DOORS, TRUNK, GLOVE COMPARTMENT, HOOD, WINDOWS, OR YOUR WIFE SITTING NEXT TO YOU ????????? AND WHAT IS MEANT BY 'AUTOMATICALLY' ?
its possible that the lock cylinder is broken. if you cant turn your key that's what it is. its around $20 to replace. make sure you get keys to go with the cylinder.
Either drill lock out or try removing rear seat back for access
It is manual, there is no trunk button whatsoever on the inside of the car, you need the key to get in. The lock on ours was broken, so we had to drill through the destroyed lock to open it :D
next to the spark plugs
The lock is under the VW emblem -- I believe it turns counter-clockwise.
The lock has a clip on the inside, pull the clip off and the lock will come out, remove the lock rod and then you can use a screwdriver to open the lock.
how do i replace a trunk lock with another lock that has a key
hammer
Sure. Can you open the lid? If so, there is only a clip that holds the lock in. Remove the lock, and with a small screwdriver, or pin, work what is left of the shank out of the cylinder of the lock, replace the lock, and you are back in business.
