How do you fix a code 44 on a 1994 Astro van with the Vortec engine?

Code 44 indicates a lean mixture at the oxygen sensor and it could be a variety of things from a vacuum leak, a bad fuel regulator, or a bad fuel pump. Also those engines were known for bad distributor shafts. It is best to take it to a mechanic.

Its on the front of the engine, next to the thermostat housing. On a TBI (throttle body injection, engine code Z) motor, it points straight up, on a MFI (multiport injection, engine code W) motor it points forward.

look at the vin# and it will be the 8th digit hope this helps and should be a letter not a number. on my 98' it is a R.

I can not without the manual in front of me remember which position its in but it should be either a 'W' or 'X' code, more likely the 'W' since 95% were made of this type engine, 262 CI / V6

P0128 says the engine isn't warming up to proper specs. Start with replacing the thermostat.
