This code is for a purge condition when not required . It basically means that fuel tank vapors are being drawn in from the tank . Best and quickest way to check this is to remove the vapor line from the purge valve and check to see if it has vacuum bypassing the purge valve while the engine is running . the valve is located on the passenger side of the intake manifold just behind the ignition coil . It has a single 3/8 inch plastic line attached to it with a red electrical connector on it . To remove the line , use a small straight screwdriver to push on the white plastic retainer ring [GENTLY] while pulling on the line . If you find vacuum coming from the purge valve , remove the electrical connector and re- check . If vacuum is now lost , you will need to trace the ground side down to see where it is shorted , [to ground] . If you now find vacuum still , replace the purge solenoid and re-test . All should be well !! From Pete A. AN ASE MASTER Technician from Romeoville Illinois . Best of luck to you!
