How do you fix a loose side mirror for a 1999 olds alero?
had the same problem with mine on the passenger side... the mirror was loose from the base?... i used super glue. i beleave that there is a small tab on the inside of the mirror that keeps it snug. they are ment to take a bend or flex incase of someone leaning up against the mirror. instead of it breaking off it flexs and then goes back into place. but mine stayed loose. so i glued it. but it it gets flexed again. the glue will not be to strong to keep it from doing what its sapossed to do.

I don't know about the 2003, but I recently bought a 2006. When the power mirror adjustment button is selected to make the driver's side mirror active - that is, to adjust that mirror - the passenger's side mirror will rotate down when you shift into reverse. If the adjustment button is selected to the passenger's side, the mirror will remain stationary when you shift into reverse.
How do you get your side mirror back on when it has been jerked loose and hangs down is there a way to fix it as it is ok otherwise glass isn't broken just pulled loose from it's base?
Begin by removing the inside door panel. Connect the mirror with the mirror retaining bolts. Attach the mirror wiring harness.

Remove the mirror trim panel ( inside - Triangular piece lined up w/ the outside mirror)...pop/pry this out .....Their should be three bolts.....tighten them if they are loose....If that does not fix it then remove the 3 bolts and if you have power mirrors unplug the connector as well ......then see if the if anything is bored out or mis-threaded! hope this helps

Remove the inside door panel. There are three bolts with nuts & washers that hold the mirror onto the truck. If your windows are manual, the crank level will need to be removed.

It is because the silvering for the mirror is separating from the glass. Apparently this is a fairly common problem for heated mirrors. You need to replace the glass or whole housing.
