How do you fix the gas gauge on a 1993 Ford Explorer 4x4?

The sending unit for the fuel level is part of the fuel pump assembly that is located in the gas tank. You must drop the gas tank to replace it.

You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.


1991 to 1994 Explorers have a 15 amp fuse for the fuel gauge , labelled # 17

according to the engine wiring schematics in my Haynes repair manual (Helpfull)

The transfer case makes it 4x4 not the transmission. As long as the trannys are the same should work

you have remove the whole locking huh?

i have a 1993 ford explorer push button 4x4 and when i push the button it kicks in but every 20 yards or so it makes a loud binding sound. what could that be?

Press the low range button again, or turn the 4x4 off all together.
