Hi, First of all, it's not worth trying to replace just the cable. I've had 3 convertibles 88, and two 91's. The best thing to do is to replace the whole untit (glass, hardware, etc.), it all comes in one piece. You can get these fairly inexpensive at a salvage yard, especially if you don't need the motor. Sometimes you can find them on ebay. It takes a bit of work but it's actually pretty easy to do. You get to the rear windows by removing the back seat and then the whole panel that surounds the speaker, etc. Once you get at the window regulator, I believe it's only 3-4 bolts that hold it onto the chasis. Unplug the window motor and slip it out the top. Someone has submitted a step by step write up on this FAQ site. Review that and you should be in good shape.
Unlatch the latches at the top of the window, then press the convertible top button down. this button is located near the armrest. If this does not work you must aquire a new convertible top motor. from the trunk, remove hyd. fluid from the conv. top pump, operate top by hand. worked for me for years
inside the door panel
Check on E-Bay. I have often seen new and used convertible top motors for sunbirds of our generation
If an automatic window will fail to lower on a 1991 Honda Accord than the power winder motor or relay can be the problem. The easiest place to check is the relay. If the relay is fine than the motor is failing.
The wiper motor should be located on the driver side under the cowl grill below the wiper blade good luck
Yes! If you have a zipout window. It will require top half open. Then the lower panel removal, re-stapling of the new meterial to the panel. Good luck tight fit.
Take the door panel off,you will need to remove 3 bolts for the window motor and then 3bolts(maybe4) that hold the regulator to the window
check on eBay for a power window motor. from what i have heard its only 1991 -1994 mercery capri only
It's the switch because the motor is getting power to go up but not down.
It is in the door. I suggest you take it to a trim shop to have it replaced.
Buy a Haynes manual from an auto parts store or go to your local library, look in the Reference Section for a Chilton's manual. Hope this helps.
1-Go behind rear seat and remove vinyle and cardboard covering.2-Locate the motor/hydrolic fluid reservoir (if on knees in rear seat facing rear window will be on right side).3-On right side of motor unit will be a rubber stopper, remove this and with a large plastic syringe, remove hydrolic fluid.4-Replace rubber stopper and the convertible top can then be operated manually.Remember, if you want to operate top electrically again, fluid must be replaced.
