If the terminal to battery connection is loose snug up the center bolt (not too tight or you will pull the retaining nut out of the battery). If you have a molded, once piece cable you can buy new battery cables or side mount terminals at your local auto parts store. If your cable can be disassembled then take it apart, clean off all corrosion and trim/strip the cable and connected wires so you have good clean metal to work with. Reassemble and use battery terminal protector spray or grease to help prevent future problems.
I have a 1989 celebrity and it was quiet easy to change the alternator, done it a dozen times. There should be 1 main bolt in the back on the bottom of the alternator,(side toward cab). This bolt goes all the way through the mount. Then on the front side there should be a bolt that screws into a mount. Disconnet the main battery cable and unplug the wires on the bottom and there it should be loose.
Open the hood and look see.
you have to have 2 wires. then you put a wire to the positive side of the battery(+) and the other wire to the negative side of the battery(-). then both other ends to the light bulb one end to the side and one end to the bottom. you have to have 2 wires. then you put a wire to the positive side of the battery(+) and the other wire to the negative side of the battery(-). then both other ends to the light bulb one end to the side and one end to the bottom.
it has something to do with the electrical current pssing through the wires to the battery
Underneath the battery side of the truck. Youll see the battery wires hooked up to it...
Yes. If it is loose on the side that comes from that alternator, then the alt. is not getting the opportunity to charge the battery. So basically you're running your car on pure battery and it will go dead accordingly
Are you are talking about a dual terminal battery? This battery can be used in a side mount or top mount configuration whichever applies.
Chances are the alternator is dead or dieing or the belt slipping or some wires loose. Any of these will end you stranded by the side of the road, get it checked.
Side post.Side post.
disconnect the wires starting with the negative post first. there is a clamp holding the battery down at the base of the battery in the middle of the long side. loosen the bolt and tilt the battery out.
unplug the wires and swap, its very simple. plugs are located on the left side of the engine, to the right of the battery.
It is on the drivers side of the engine compartment under the battery tray.
