Google Earth 6 introduced a Measurements tab when you edit/view placemark properties, which will show length of paths. You can upgrade to free version of GE 6.0 if you want to use that.

Otherwise you can use the Ruler measuring tool (all versions of Google Earth) available in the Tools menu, select Path and retrace the path on the ground to find its length.

There should be some on GOOGLE MAPS, and GOOGLE EARTH.

How do you find the distance calculator on Google earth?

If your toolbuttons are visible there is a ruler up there which you can use to measure between two points. You can also create a path and GE will tell you how long the path is.

What is the distance from Richmond Virginia to Charleston South Carolina?

Does Google Earth measure distance as Crow Flies?

In line mode the ruler is drawn as great circles (shortest possible path), which should be as a "crow flies". The ruler in Google Earth allows measurement of distances for a straight line or paths. Note for large distances (e.g. > 2000 miles) lines are drawn different than the lat-lon grid lines in Google Earth.

What path of earth as it revolves around the sun?

The Earth moves in a path which is in the shape of an ellipse. This is called an "elliptical orbit". Our path is very close to being a circle, but the distance from the Sun varies slightly because the path is actually an ellipse.

Is it possible to measure area using Google Earth?

Yes. Google Earth Professional also allows you measure area, but it is expensive. Alternatively you can use the free version of Google Earth, mark the area to be measured as a path. Then save it as a kml file. Programs like EasyAcreage can then read these kml files and calculate the acreage for you. This method is remarkably accurate. See a case study where the accuracy of this method was used to measure the size of a tennis court. The KML Tools Project and Zonums area tool (in links below) is an easy way to measure area online.

How do you save a ruler path in Google Earth?

Unfortunately you can't. However, you can use the Add Path tool from the menu bar or the Add > Path menu item to pop up the New Path dialogue. You can set properties of your path there, and when the window is open you can free draw a path on the map similar to the measurement tool. The added benefit is that the path can be saved and its visibility state toggled. The downside is that you can't find out the length easily. It can be done by exporting the path as KML and calculating the distance with a site such as http://www.emaltd.net/google/gec/utilities/ or http://www.craterfish.org/googleearth

What is distance between Phoenix and Cyprus?

What is the formula to calculate earth bulge?

Earth bulge describes the effect of physical earth curvature along a direct path between two points on the earth's surface. The earth surface appears to "bulge upwards" in the path, with the peak of the bulge occurring at mid-path. This assumes that the earth's surface is flat, with no topological variation along the path between the two points. In radio path profiling, the effects of physical "earth bulge" must be added to the terrain topology (earth surface variation) profile. The amount of physical "earth bulge" along a path can be calculated from the following formula: h= 1.5 d1• d2 Where: h = Vertical distance from a horizontal reference line in feet d1 = Distance from the data point to point A in miles d2 = Distance from the data point to point B in miles

Why does the distance between earth and the sun differ during the year?

Simply because the Earth's path around the sun is not a circle. Earth's orbit is an ellipse - meaning its distance from the sun varies according to the time of year.

How do you measure distance in Google Earth?

Here is the way to generate an elevation profile between two points on Earth, which gives you a fair approximation in the altitude differences.Click Add on the Google Earth Menu bar, and select the Path . Or alternately you'll do the same thing by pressing the combination of Ctrl+Shift+T.A New path dialogue box appears for you to enter the Name of Path you want to designate and write some description for the same. Then browse to any location of your interest and click at a place and release the mousse button and go to another place and click and release the mouse button. You'll see a line drawn connecting these two selected points. Now, click OK on the bottom of the New Path dialogue box, to close it.On the left side menu go to places and right click on the Path you created and select Show Elevation Profile to see the graph displaying the cross section of the path between the selected two points.Just mouse over the graph to find the various elevations of the points on the given path from the first point to the second point.AdditionallyIf you simply want to measure the distance between two points on the ground (either in a straight line or a path) Google Earth provides a Ruler tool. The Ruler can be found under the Tools menu or in the toolbar (ruler icon). Select the ruler then click on two points on the ground.See the related link for more details.

Distance earth to Jupiter?

Jupiter is 365 million miles away from the Earth. However, this distance is always changing because both planets travel in an elliptical path around the sun.
